Supporting Scientist Positon for ARM at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

llnl-logoThe Cloud Processes Research (CPR) Group within the Atmospheric, Earth and Energy Division (AEED) in the Physical and Life Sciences Directorate has an opening for a supporting scientist to join the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Climate Research Facility data infrastructure. The ARM Facility Infrastructure Team develops value-added products from ARM field measurements to support cloud modeling studies of the DOE Atmospheric System Research (ASR) program and climate modeling communities, as well as develop/implement innovative approach to bridge models and observations. The scientist will have the opportunity to participate in other cloud studies conducted by CPR.

The successful candidate will primarily work in the ARM data infrastructure and will be expected to work on the following priority areas:

  1. gathering and processing data sets from various ARM field instrument arrays,
  2. ARM valued-added products, satellite observations, and national/international numeric weather prediction sources,
  3. developing integrated data products from ARM observations for cloud modeling studies;
  4. maintaining and optimizing the code to make the data process efficiently and automatically.

The selected scientist will have the opportunity to engage with a broad community of scientists working on cloud modeling led by the ASR’s Cloud Life Cycle Working Group. The selected individual will work closely with other members of the ARM Facility data infrastructure and will report to the Cloud Processes Research Group Leader. More details about the job and application can be found at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory career page.
