As the ARM Climate Research Facility prepares to participate in the coming round of winter meetings, now is a good time to share news of the two industry awards its display received this past year. The display is exhibited annually at the American Geophysical Union meeting in December and the American Meteorological Society meeting in January to provide information and outreach to the scientific community.

This past spring, the display was recognized with a gold Hermes Creative Award. Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition organized by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals to recognize outstanding work in writing, designing, and conceptualizing materials. Gold awards were presented to 18% of the 3,700 applicants in 142 categories for exemplifying and exceeding a high standard of excellence that serve as industry benchmarks.

In addition to the Hermes award, the ARM display received an Award of Excellence in the exhibits, displays, and signage category in the 21st annual Awards for Publication Excellence (APEX). This is an annual competition among professional communicators for excellence in graphic design, content, and communicative effectiveness. The display was one of six entrants to be recognized out of 392 entrants for design and illustration, with 3,785 total APEX entries overall. The APEX judges noted that energy and climate issues continued to be top-level concerns among APEX entrants in the 2009 competition.
