LASSO Tutorial Hosted by The University of Maryland Baltimore County

The University of Maryland Baltimore County, in partnership with the LASSO team, will hold a two-day hybrid tutorial on May 2nd and 3rd. In-person attendees will join us and Dr. William Gustafson (PNNL) at the Physics Department on UMBC’s main campus and participate in hands-on activities. The tutorial sessions will be transmitted by Webex, allowing participation from across the globe.

During the two days, participants will learn more about the LASSO shallow convection scenario at the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) user facility’s Southern Great Plains (SGP) atmospheric observatory, and about the LASSO-CACTI for deep convection scenario and how it differs from the shallow convection approach. Participants will also learn how they may access the data for their research or classwork, and how they can use the LASSO evaluation software on their own model output.
